Since our founding in 1915 by Calvin and Lola Gladhill, we’ve been dedicated to excellence. Starting from a small catalog business in rural Middletown, Maryland, our commitment to competitive prices, fine craftsmanship, and superior customer service quickly transformed us into one of the region’s premier furniture destinations. Calvin’s background in custom woodworking – crafting fine wooden caskets – paved the way for a business rooted in artistry and attention to detail. From those early days of employing local cabinet makers to produce handcrafted solid wood furniture to our modern focus on American-made, artisan-crafted pieces, Gladhill Furniture has always upheld the values of quality, beauty, and integrity.

In 1999, the store was purchased by Jim Nicholson, who brought decades of experience and a renewed vision for the company. Today, we feature the area’s largest selection of American-made furniture, including Amish and Scandinavian designs like Stressless by Ekornes, all with a focus on handcrafted, solid wood pieces made in North America.
