Consulate is inspired by the furniture designs of the era following the French Revolution, the ageof Napoleon Bonaparte, who came to power in 1790 and was finally defeated in 1815. During thistime there was a resurgence of classic Greek, Roman and Egyptian forms and the overall effect wasa pairing down of excess.
